Episode 8 with Karina Bautista

Greetings from the Galapagos and welcome to episode 8 of Hostel Conversations. This episode is the 3rd episode to be recorded on Isla Santa Cruz and is the first of these three to be recorded in an actual hostel, in a return to form, of sorts (much appreciation to Darwin Hostal 🙂 )

The guest for this episode is Karina Bautista, an inspiring fixture in the island community, who is constantly working towards bettering the lives of her and her family as well as the people and the world around her. It was an honor to spend some time learning about how she got to where she is now and to uncover some big dreams for her future.

During this discussion we managed to hit a wide array of topics that included a brief history of farming in the Galapagos Islands, a review of Karina’s path to permaculture farming, Peter Singer’s concept of the expanding circle, and a look into her idea of the future for Galapagos and the world. Additionally, we touch on the concept of letting go of being right in the interest of being more kind and how that can affect ourselves and everyone around us. We close with an absolutely beautiful quote from Dr. Wayne Dyer. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it.

Light and Love,

Drew
